“The Good Dog Food Company is our first business, and is the reason we do what we do. Our journey with dogs began when I met my husband in culinary school and we got our bulldog, Trucker. We began cooking for him using fresh, organic ingredients but realized it was a lot of work, even for us. In 2008 we started The Good Dog Food Company so we could make the food we were creating available to other busy, health-conscious pet parents. The health of pets has always remained our primary focus, and we now offer seven delicious recipes. Each is made from fresh ingredients that are chosen and treated with care, many of which come from farmers we have personal relationships with. Though we no longer make the food ourselves, we still have our hands in every part of the process. Our food is what Trucker has thrived on from puppy to senior, and we hope we can help your dogs thrive, too.” – Jillian, owner of The Good Dog Food Company and The Dog House
The Good Dog Food Company has two kinds of food. Our signature recipes, Trucker’s Mutt-loaf and Penelope’s Grain-free Feast, are complete diets that are designed for all life stages. They were formulated by a doctor of veterinary nutrition to ensure they are complete and balanced. Our other recipes are supplemental and were created in collaboration with a canine food therapist. They can be fed intermittently or as a complete diet with the additional of calcium and a multivitamin. All recipes can be used as a delicious topper for kibble or a dehydrated food. Good Dog Food is not raw, but only the protein and grains (in the recipes that have them) are gently cooked. All other ingredients are added after the cooking process in order to maintain the nutritive value and live enzymes. Good Dog Food will last indefinitely in your freezer or up to five days in the refrigerator once thawed and opened. Food can be re-frozen in smaller portions if necessary.
Good Dog Food is frozen, and we are not a large company, which unfortunately means it is cost prohibitive to ship to most places. Currently, FOOD CAN ONLY BE SHIPPED TO PLACES WITHIN 2-DAY GROUND SERVICE FROM LAS VEGAS. Shipping is included in our prices, but costs roughly $40 for a case of 12 lbs and $50 for a case of 20 lbs. Local delivery is also available and costs $15 and up, depending on location. If we receive an order from an area we cannot ship to, we will cancel your order and notify you. We truly apologize for this inconvenience.
Feeding guidelines are approximate as caloric needs vary, but for a healthy adult dog we recommend starting with:
There are approximately 2 cups of food in each one pound container.
A 12 pound case feeds a ten pound dog for roughly one month.
